The Importance Of Protein To A Bodybuilder

Despite their immense importance, the body has no mechanism to store amino acids. This stems form the fact that they contain some nitrogen compounds which if left to accumulate may become toxic. This is made worse by the acidic nature of protein which may topple the pH balance of the internal body environment. Thus excess amino acids are oxidized in the liver where their carbon content is striped off to be used for energy and the rest is converted to a highly soluble compound called urea which is dissolved in water to form urine. This is largely how surplus amino acids are discarded from the body.

Thus complete proteins must be included in every meal to replenish the amount available for muscle growth. This sheds light on the average body builder's fixation with protein-fused meals six times a day. A great source of these complete proteins includes meat, eggs, milk, beans, legumes and grains. Some lack one essential amino acids or another so it's advised to take them in combination to supplement their amino acid content.

Unfortunately for our vegetarian friends, while you can be fit and healthy on a vegan diet, it is not likely to get you the Mr. Universe title. This is because you need some eggs or dairy products for that magical touch they seem to add. Combining a vegetarian diet and some eggs and milk products will definitely get you there as they contain all the essential amino acids necessary for muscle growth. These are animal products which are an aversion to vegetarians. So of you are a vegetarian seeking the title, you will have to forego one for the other. The economists term for this is opportunity cost.

For the meat loving body builder, not all meat is good. Animal meat is rife with saturated fats that are unwanted. Opt for lean cuts such as egg whites instead of egg yolk, turkey and chicken breast and non fat dairy products instead of whole milk. As a rule of thumb, go for white meat and avoid red meat. You will reduce the amount of bad fats ingested while keeping you sufficiently nourished with the good kinds of amino acids.

What is the amount of protein that is right for me? You may ask. Well according to Recommended Daily Allowance, a set of nutritional guidelines establish by the national research council of the US, you should take 0.36 grams per pound of your body weight. However, among bodybuilders the rule of thumb is i1 gram of complete protein per pound of body weight is adequate. Since this is from the horse's mouth it is best to take it as the gospel truth.

In conclusion, to stay fit and possibly grow some muscles, an average meal consisting of 55% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 15% fat is advised. This is healthy and balanced to supply all your body needs. This is merely a guide though. The optimal diet balance varies from person to person depending on how intense you are training and even your actual goal in training, be it to lose weight or gain muscles.

Drink Coffee for a Healthier You

Looking for a way to lift your mood and treat headaches? To lower your risk of Parkinson's, diabetes, and colon cancer? One that could even lower your risk of cavities?

It's not too good to be true: coffee consumption appears to lower the risk for several diseases. And, what's even more exciting, the more you drink, the greater the health benefits.

I have what might be referred to as a healthy dependence on coffee, particularly in the morning. As a result, I am already aware that coffee is effective for stopping a morning headache and boosting my mood.

And, as the parent of a teen asthmatic, I've also seen first hand that coffee is helpful in managing asthma and even controlling attacks when medication is unavailable.

The interesting thing is, new research by Harvard demonstrates that consuming one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily can reduce diabetes risk by single digits. What's more, having six cups or more each day slashed men's risk by 54% and women's by 30% over those who abstain from coffee.

Granted, that is more than most people normally consume. But it does hold out promise that greater research might what is responsible for such positive effects.

The really interesting thing here is that more and more studies are revealing that coffee, particularly in higher amounts, can have very positive effects on overall health. And while there may be some negatives to excessive drinking of coffee, overall, research shows that coffee is far more beneficial than it is harmful.

For example: recent research indicates that regular coffee drinkers are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's. What's more, several of those research programs were able to demonstrate that the more a person drinks, the lower their risk.

Another great example is that at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones, versus those who do not drink coffee.

So, what's causing these health benefits?

In all likelihood, it's the caffeine and the many naturally occurring antioxidants found in coffee beans. Interestingly, the overall potency of many of these anti-oxidants is increased during the roasting process.

Coffee is a significant source of caffeine, and the evidence is very strong that regular coffee consumption reduces risk of Parkinson's disease. The cause of that is directly related to caffeine. As a result, Parkinson's drugs are currently being developed which contain a derivative of caffeine.

Caffeine is also what helps in treating asthma and headaches. For example, a single dose of many popular pain relievers contains up to 120 milligrams of caffeine, the equivalent to two cups of coffee.

Coffee also has large amounts of antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid and tocopherols, and minerals such as magnesium. These compounds have been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism. This increased sensitivity improves one's response to insulin.

The result is that a cup of decaf is also more effective than a cup of tea in reducing diabetes (though only half as much as those drinking caffeinated coffee).

Finally, research in Europe has shown that the compound trigonelline, which is responsible for coffee's aroma and bitter taste, demonstrates both antibacterial and anti-adhesive properties. Such properties have a direct effect on dental health, helping to prevent dental cavities from forming.

Of course, coffee isn't perfect. In some people, that magic "jolt" of caffeine can result in nervousness, hand trembling, and rapid heartbeat. Further, pregnant women, heart patients, and those at risk for osteoporosis may still be advised to limit or avoid coffee.

Nevertheless, the result is that, for people of reasonably normal health, coffee is a reasonably healthy choice and can have health benefits into the future.

Profound Effects of Green Tea Dieting

For centuries now, the benefits of green tea diets have been the subject of countless writings and scientific investigations.

More than four thousand years ago, green tea diet has become a staple beverage for most Asians because of its countless health and medicinal benefits. It is said that the Chinese Emperor Shen Nung was the first one to have discovered green tea diet. Emperor Shen Nung was reported to have been boiling water when some leaves of a nearby plant fell into his pot. The leaves actually came from Camellia sinensis, the herb from which green tea diet is extracted.

Having a green tea diet is associated with several health benefits. One of the benefits of having a green tea diet is providing a potential cure for cancer. According to some studies, certain substances in green tea diet can destroy cancer cells without harming any neighboring healthy tissues. This substance in green tea diets is called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

The results of the study on the cancer benefit of green tea diets were astounding and it led to further more researches that investigate other aspects of green tea diet. In a study conducted by American and Swiss scientists in the University of Geneva, it has been found that the EGCG found in green tea diets can increase the 24-hour energy expenditure of the body. They concluded that this is due to the ability of antioxidants present in green tea diet to stimulate thermogenesis, otherwise known as fat metabolism. According to their findings, people who were on a green tea diet exhibited a significant four percent increase in their normal metabolic rates. This led the scientists to conclude that green tea diet has a major contributing factor in weight loss.

Another study conducted in China was designed to investigate further on green tea diet's weight loss benefit. They decided that since green tea diet can significantly increase fat metabolism, then green tea diet probably would help lowering down cholesterol levels as well. Their hypothesis was proven when they introduced green tea diet on 240 people with mild to extremely high cholesterol levels. After only twelve weeks, they observed that those on a green tea diet dropped sixteen percent in their cholesterol levels.

Based on the above study, it can also be hypothesized that green tea diet can cure obesity. Green tea diet's catechin polyphenols can delay the reaction of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. These enzymes are the ones responsible for storing calories into fats in the body. By delaying these enzymes, green tea diets can therefore lessen fat concentration and prevent obesity in people.

This being a truly remarkable nutritional supplement, green tea dieting is used to improve the body's health in many ways. Further studies were made on the benefits of green tea diets. The latest ones were able to prove that green tea diet can effectively protect the skin from damage due to ultraviolet light radiation. Green tea diet is also widely recognized as a substance that can protect against many different cancers such as stomach cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer of the colon, oral cancer, prostate cancer, and breast and cervical cancers.

Tips for keeping your skin rejuvenated during the summer months

Occasionally we all wonder about the methods celebrities follow to make themselves look gorgeous.

How do they make their skin glow and look so full of life? Although you may not be followed by the paparazzi, you want skin care tips and to use skin care products that will make us look like our favorite star.

Be it oily skin or dry skin, we require moisturizers, wrinkle creams, cleansers, lotions and toners for the glowing skin we crave. So what skin care tips and suggestions should we apply to look our best?

Read on, all will be revealed.

  1. Dig deep: To take care of facial skin you need to go below the surface. Begin by getting rid of dead skin layers. This is no small matter as you will need to exfoliate on a daily basis. You need to get rid of dead skin cells as they end up making your skin look dry and dull and providing an unsuitable surface for make-up. No amount of lotion or cream will do this job for you. Natural products should be used in this cosmetic procedure as they are ideal for gentle exfoliation while chemicals can damage your skin.
  2. Shop around: Skin rejuvenation is not a one-size-fit all process. Most women in their thirties and beyond are concerned not only about maintaining their glow, but also worry about aging. For the tanned look opt for a self tanner that is fragrance free or smells good. It will penetrate the skin when applied. Important - Avoid the elbows, knees and heels when applying as they need to look natural and the self tan may end up darkening your joints.
  3. Keep it fresh: When you use a sunscreen get a fresh one every season as the older ones don’t work well and become less effective with time. Re-apply every one or two hours when tanning. When buying a sunscreen lotion always check out how many stars it has been awarded, this will do wonders for your pigmentation. The FDA has begun grading sunscreen products for consumer’s benefit, based on ultra violet rays which are responsible for skin damage. Consider applying the sunscreen to your lips as they too may get burnt.
  4. Remember your feet: Did you know that the most ravaged part of our body is our feet? Dead skin cells abound and they need to be removed. The main skin care tip for your feet is to wash daily and to scrub with a pumice stone at least three times a week as it is an excellent way to remove dead skin and keep dry skin soft. A specialist foot moisturizer is then recommended to keep the skin on your feet supple and moist.
  5. Keep it nutritious: Your dermis needs healthy nutrition to reach the pinnacle of its beauty. The more natural ingredients you apply to your skin the better. For skin rejuvenation and firming you can use mixtures of olive oil, honey, egg white, avocado and oat and rice powder. You will be amazed at the effect these natural ingredients will have.

Say goodbye to unwanted hair with laser hair removal!

Laser hair removal offers a permanent solution to one of beauty’s most difficult problems: unwanted hair. Unwanted hair is the bane of men and women, adolescents and adults, and people of all races and nationalities, alike. It can appear anywhere on the body and is difficult to disguise or eliminate. Until now, only temporary solutions were available to deal with unwanted hair, but with the development of laser hair removal technology, struggling with unsightly hair can be a thing of the past.

Hair happens to the best of us
There are few people who have not at some point or another wanted to rid themselves of unwanted hair. Problem spots normally occur on:

• Legs
• Arms
• The face
• The bikini area
• Backs

Out with the old
For most, unwanted hair poses only a cosmetic problem. Its presence is widely viewed as unattractive and can be difficult to camouflage, particularly for women. But for others, hair growth can pose health issues in the form of hygiene and dermatological problems such as acne.
Many people deal with unwanted hair through the traditional methods of:

• Shaving
• Plucking
• Tweezing
• Waxing
• Creams

While all of these methods provide their own unique benefits, they all still share one commonality, they are only temporary solutions.

In with the new
Unlike other methods, laser hair removal is not just skin deep, it penetrates the skin to reach the core of the issue. Laser hair treatment targets the melanin in the hair follicle. By converting the light from the laser into heat energy, the hair follicle is rendered sterile and can no longer support hair growth. As a result, unwanted hair is permanently eliminated.

Are you considering laser hair removal?
Many businesses offer laser hair removal in Sydney, Australia, but finding a professional and experienced team of professionals is crucial if you want to see real results. Not everyone offers the same level of care and expertise, so it’s important that you understand what to look for in a provider.

A reputable laser hair removal business will inform you that hair removal treatment is:

• Best done with genuine lasers and not IPL (intense pulsed light) machines
• Optimal for individuals with fair skin and dark, but may still be beneficial on others
• Should be prescribed over a number of sessions; improvements may be seen immediately but the best results will occur over time
• May not work for everyone or produce permanent results. Just as with all medical procedures, it does not work for everyone
• Done best by licensed and highly trained professionals

Visit the professionals at Laser by Sia and say goodbye to unwanted hair for good.
